LBMA Clearing Statistics - April 2017
The average price of gold in April was $1,265.63/oz, 2.8% higher than the previous month. The average volume of ounces transferred was up significantly by 20.7% to 21.8 million, the highest for the year (following three consecutive monthly falls), with the corresponding value transferred up 24.1% to $27.6 billion. The number of transfers was 3,059, broadly flat on the previous month, with the clearers settling on average 7,127 ounces per transfer, 20.7% higher than the previous month.
The average price of silver in April increased by 2.7% to $18.06/oz. The volume of ounces transferred was 7.4% higher at 218.3 million whilst the corresponding value of ounces transferred increased by 10.3% to $3.94 billion. The number of transfers increased by 22.5% to 1,132, with the clearers settling on average 192,863 ounces per transfer, 12.3% lower than the previous month.
The average gold / silver price ratio in April was 70.1, broadly unchanged from the previous month.
