LBMA Clearing Statistics - August 2017
The average price of gold in August was $1,282.32/oz, representing a month on month increase of 3.7%. The average volume of ounces transferred fell by 7.6% to 18.5 million, with the corresponding value down by 4.1% to $23.7 billion. The number of transfers in August was 2,979, representing a 6.4% increase on the previous month, with the clearers settling on average 6,210 ounces per transfer, 13.1% lower than the corresponding figure for July.
The average price of silver in August increased by 4.8% to $16.91/oz. The volume of ounces transferred fell by 8.1% to 190.3 million ounces with the corresponding value 3.7% lower at $3.22 billion. The number of transfers increased by 1.9% to 957, with the clearers settling on average 198,902 ounces per transfer, a decrease of 9.8% on the previous month.
The average gold / silver price ratio in August was 75.8, falling from 76.6 in July.
